It’s impossible to visit the Marne without passing by the famous Lac du Der Chantecoq, which borders the campsite, with its beaches, trails and birdwatching observatories. A true paradise for nature lovers and birdwatchers.
Nearby, don’t miss the route des églises à pans de bois et vitraux du XVIe siècle, a unique heritage in Champagne, as well as theVillagemuséedu Der, located in Sainte-Marie-du-Lac-Nuisement, will immerse you in local history and traditions. Gourmets will appreciate a break at the La Grange aux Abeilles restaurant, where you can discover a beekeeping exhibition with a live apiary, or at the Au Petit Pari restaurant, just 2 km from the campsite. For a cultural getaway, Reims, the city of the sacres, awaits you with its majestic cathedral, crayères and Champagne houses. Vitry-le-François, gateway to Lac du Der, is also worth a visit for its collegiate church and its history. Troyes plunges you into a fascinating medieval setting, with its half-timbered houses, picturesque streets and museums. A few kilometers from Lac du Der, the Haras National de Montier-en-Der invites you to discover thehistory of horses and horsemanship, with guided tours and dressage demonstrations. Brienne-le-Château, meanwhile, is an imperial city, a veritable jewel case of heritage. Visit this emblematic city of Napoleon, with its citadel, mansions and museums dedicated to military history.
For history buffs, several memorial sites recall the fighting of the Great War, such as the Sommepy-Tahure Necropolis and the Dormans Memorial.
